With all the bad press that some traditional cruise companies are getting, some travelers sick and tired of the news and risk they take, so they are looking for new ways to enjoy that form of travel. There is a new major player in the cruising industry, river cruising Europe. River Cruising in Europe has become big business and a new growing segment of the travel industry.

Europe has many waterways and rivers that are connected, so it’s possible to visit four or more countries on a seven day cruise. Cruises are arranged by country or a particular river. For example there are Danube River cruises that can go from the Black Forest in Germany to the Black Sea in Romania which passes thru several countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, and Germany). There is also the famous Rhine River Cruises that cruises from Switzerland to Amsterdam that passes thru several countries also. Rhone river cruises, Saone river cruises, and Douro river cruises other popular cruises. New areas have opened up that includes Nile River cruises and even in other continents like Asia.

As you can see you have many choices or areas and cruise companies have setup itineraries around various time frames, so you can always find a cruise that fits your itinerary. Now you just have to find a reputable company that will have a ship that fits your personality and cruise
wants. Lots of the river cruising Europe companies have been buying larger more modern ships to deal with this growing trend and keep up with the rising demand of this form of travel.
Canal Midi
If you are feeling adventurous and want to captain your own ship, that is possible also in countries like Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and France. You can rent a small boat and cruise thru the many locks in a certain country enjoying many towns along the way. This form of travel is very appealing to many people, including myself. I want to cruise the Canal de Midi in France, ultimately I would like to go from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and it’s all possible with personal river cruising.
